With today’s political climate, many Writing Center administrators have wondered if and how they should address systemic racism (and other assaults on inclusivity efforts) in their centers and on their campuses. While there are many options, one good starting point is developing a statement on anti-racism/inclusivity.

Join us for the Antiracism/Inclusivity Statement Workshop where we will review sample statements, share strategies for tailoring your statement to your unique campus culture, and discuss how to strategically publish your statement. Take a step towards a more inclusive writing center with the support of your RMWCA colleagues.

This three-part webinar will focus on creating anti-racism and inclusion statements for our writing centers. The first workshop was an information and drafting workshop ; the next webinar was a  feedback workshop; and the final workshop we will hear from a WPA who had to deal with push back against such a statement at the University of Washington, Tacoma, Dr. Asao Inoue (now of Arizona State University)  on September 29, 2021.  Dr. Inoue will discuss how writing centers can effectively respond to pushback, along with the development of UWT Writing Center's ground-breaking anti-racism statement.

All webinars will be held on Zoom with a link to be provided from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Mountain Time.
